University College Fryslân Foundation

In 2019, we started the University College Fryslân Foundation in order to provide everyone with access to UCF’s BSc ‘Global Responsibility & Leadership’, regardless of financial background. UCFF acquires funding opportunities to students from anywhere in the world.

Meet the team

Indira van der Zande

Throughout my career and personal life, I’ve always attempted to put my organisational skills into practice for organisations that are creating social impact. I’m inspired by the ambition of the UCF Foundation to provide equal opportunities for students all over the world and to stimulate diversity in the classroom as a basis for inclusive leadership.

Amaranta Luna Arteaga

Inclusion and diversity have been driving forces in my professional and personal life. I feel proud of being part of this ambitious project, working together with inspiring women and contributing my expertise to achieve UCFF’s goal of providing access to education with a societal impact to young leaders around the world.

Inge Nummerdor

For the UCF Foundation, I manage the website and help organise events. I think raising money for scholarships is a beautiful purpose. As the youth has the future, we should try and make sure education is achievable for students from all layers of society and all parts of the world.

Sinead Walsh

I truly believe that education should be accessible to all and that the UCF Foundation is a step in achieving this. It’s so important to create an education space that is welcoming for everyone with inclusion and diversity at its roots. For the UCF Foundation, I manage their Social Media and Website. Taking care that our engagement is constant and our information is up to date.

Daria Elizarraras Veenstra

I have come to greatly appreciate my learning experience at a faculty that encourages critical thinking and is constantly striving to be in line with their values. It is for the same reasons that I believe anyone should be granted that same opportunity. The UCF foundation plays a key role in the transition towards a more inclusive and diverse faculty and as an intern I hope to play a part in this process.

Volunteers

The UCF Foundation wouldn’t be where it is without the help of volunteers. Since February 2020 we’re proud to call the following students our UCF Volunteers:

  • Amber Beernink
  • Theresa Görs
  • Julia Brune
  • Chiara Neri
  • Waheed Adam
  • Sara Argyriadis
  • Rosalie Gordeyns
  • Lea Lemke

Vision

We are committed to connecting inclusive young leaders to inclusive education.

We believe sustainable development can only be achieved by looking at current global challenges from different perspectives. These challenges can only be addressed by inclusive leaders who are trained in integrating knowledge from different disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds. We envision a future where these inclusive research and learning opportunities are achievable for all, regardless of financial background.

  • Sustainable development through looking at current global challenges from different perspectives
  • Young leaders taking responsibility and action in accordance with them
  • Inclusive education regardless of financial or geographical background
  • Engage in diverse disciplines, cultures, and backgrounds

Mission

UCFF aims to provide everyone with access to research and education within the Bachelor of Science degree in Global Responsibility & Leadership, in which young professionals from different backgrounds are trained to take the lead in addressing global challenges through local solutions. We achieve this by acquiring funding opportunities to prospective students from anywhere in the world. The foundation coordinates fundraising activities and allocates research and scholarship funds to students based on need and merit.

University College Fryslân – Global Responsibility & Leadership

Today’s challenges reflect the dynamic and complex state of world affairs and cut across various academic disciplines. Solutions to these ‘wicked problems’ need to come from individuals who are able to address issues from different perspectives. This is what the BSc Global Responsibility & Leadership offers.

By developing expertise in various disciplines, such as Human and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Information Technology, students learn how to combine insights from this variety of disciplines when analysing complex problems. In close cooperation with classmates, graduate students, staff and public and private stakeholders, students are not only studying global and local challenges but also devise possible solutions. In addition, they analyse and design sustainable, innovative and future-proof solutions themselves. As such, students are strongly supported to take initiative as global citizens to induce positive social change and develop their leadership skills.
